Amy Winehouse and other victims, whose life is it anyway?

So another artist died. Off course it’s not sure if she died because of drugs… yet. However, even if drugs weren’t the cause now, they surely didn’t improve her health and without a doubt helped Amy leave this world. Now I understand from online communities and social networks that we do not have to feel sorry about Amy dying, it’s her own fault right?

Well, besides the fact that she left a family and friends, the world has lost one hell of an artist. I picture a little Amy, a small girl with a talent, wanting to become famous, just like almost everybody at that age. She isn’t dreaming of touring schedules, 99% of the money she makes going to other people or the pressure of having masses of people watching you. Little Amy doesn’t know that she won’t be giving one show a week but will be doing 14 shows in 7 night all this besides appearing in t.v. shows, doing interviews and guarding how her image comes across 24 hours a day. Little Amy just wants to sing.

What we expect from our idols is not human, we want them at the top of their game and we want it around the clock. Musicians, actors, athletes all are under the watchful eyes of the public. These modern day Olympians have to be perfect. Add the sex, drugs and rock & roll lifestyle we expect from musicians to the mix, because let’s be honest when you sing about being trouble and refusing rehab you have to show you’ve lived a little, and you’re headed for disaster. Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison the tragic fallen heroes should have been a warning, but we actually seem to need a tragic ending of our youthful heroes it ads a certain tragic mystique, like they were something this world should not have too much of, as if fate decided we could not have too much of a good thing.

In reality it’s us, managers, record labels and fans. We drive our idols to extremes but take no responsibility. We want them to perform, so managers want them to perform. One way to manage those 14 shows in seven days, touring all over the world and doing everything that we want them to do, is by adopting cocaine or other drugs as a food supplement and few managers will wipe the dollar signs from their eyes to see where this is heading, they won’t say no.

Yes little Amy made all those choices herself, but we can feel sorry and perhaps a little ashamed for how things turned out, we have some, however small amount of responsibility for our heroes and we should own up to it.

Except for Kurt Cobain, he was an ass.

Related, here’s the 27 club, all died at the age of, 27… Amy’s the newest member.

A ban on Christian fundamentalism and right winged extremism.

When a kid who listens to heavy metal walks into a school and kills dozens of schoolmates, it’s the music’s fault and voices cry out to have it banned and concerts are canceled.

When a guy who plays computer games murders people, voices call for a ban on computer games and games, intended for an adult audience by the way, get banned or censored down to Disney level.

Now when a Christian fundamentalist with right winged ideas goes on a killing spree... it’s quiet.

What happened in Norway is awful, a true horror, the scale of suffering this has caused is simply to terrible to be understood. Don’t get me wrong on my opinion in that regard. But with the terrible agony this has caused, I felt this small nudge in my side.

Now I am a lover of heavy metal Music (folk metal, black metal) amongst other sort of music. I am a neo-pagan, wearing a pentagram and all that. You are on a tarot site so I believe a certain interest in non traditional spirituality is a given… and on top of that I like computer games and horror movies as well. Without a doubt I would be on any conservative Christians shit list and be suspect to go out on one of those lone wolf killing sprees… if it wasn’t for one difference, I posses a certain amount of sanity and afore mentioned preferences and hobbies have precisely diddley squat to do with going out and killing people.

feeling violent yet?

So every time one of those disturbed, sick to the core imbeciles decides to go on a spree and hit the news, I feel the noose tightening around my way of life, because in the same news broadcast we get told that it’s the fault of games, movies, music or other kinds of “evil”. Besides the fact that people fail to understand that certain content is made for adults and should only be played by, watched by or listened to by adults, watching today’s news alone gives any sensation junky an overdose of death, destruction and all-round misery. Watching CNN for an hour would drive me to violence long before HALO would.

"FIGHT!"

But, let me at least be one of those to go for balance and show those so eager to ban the things I enjoy how it feels when your way of life is deemed evil and dangerous…

I hereby call out for a ban on Christianity and Right winged political ideology because it corrupts our children and obviously drives people to violence.

From work to home

Yes it's boring...imagine having to actually ride it for the whole thirty minutes... to work and back.... every day. Here's the short 11 minute version. Why did I post it, well actually just to show my mum which route I take to work.

soggy, lovey dovey romantic things

If you’re not into soggy, lovey dovey romantic things, skip this blog, you’ll like me less for it.

You know when you’re in love when all those stupid love songs start making sense. I know how that is, some years ago those songs started making sense to me when I fell in love with my beloved Janny, or Jasmine as most know her. After some time we married and I know that was the best decision ever because now, after three years of marriage those silly love songs are still making sense.

So how do I describe what she means to me, not an easy task. Clichés can hardly be avoided when I tell you how I feel. She completes me, she is my better half, without her life if there even was a life left to speak of would have been dull, flavorless and basically pointless.

She's brilliantly funny and brutally honest and though she has the talent to drive me up the wall, she barely uses it for anything else than my own benefit. She’s gorgeous and I have rarely seen a better combination of chest and behind in such a petite package to fit my taste. Her beauty blog is awesome, down to earth and taken from life, instead of the hidden advertisements many of such blogs are and through it rings the same honesty I so love about her. It is one of her many talents, all of which she denies having, to communicate to people like a real person. But it’s the way she looks at life, how she cares for people that makes her the one for me.

That's her

I’ve heard of studies proving men drop 10 or more points in IQ when they are around a woman they find attractive, well considering the complete idiot I am when I get home I consider it proven how much I’m into her. I could not have written this or any blog when she’s near… this is the one and only excuse I have for posting this a day late, well that and me being sick the days before. Yes our wedding anniversary was yesterday and I feel rotten for not having been able top mark the occasion with a huge celebration, a diamond bracelet and an evening out in the town. Though we haven’t done much to celebrate it to some amount of disappointment, because we are saving money for our vacation and castlefest the coming weeks, I at least want to take this opportunity to mark the occasion.

This is the first picture I saw of her, long before we met in person

I guess I will have to make it up to het by letting her buy lots of stuff at castlefest….

Off course every day I spend with her in my life is special and should be celebrated, the date 24 July (24/7 that’s twenty four hours a day, seven days a week we love each other, how’s that for an awesome marriage date?) will always be special, it’s the date we can say I officially became hers, and she officially became mine.

And we are a cute couple too!

If you want to know more about how we met and such, read the somewhat less cheerfull blogpost: thrice loved...
